Heavy rains in Chitwan, Gorkha and Udayapur

Kathmandu. Heavy rainfall occurred in Chitwan, Gorkha and Udayapur districts this afternoon. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Udayapur recorded the highest rainfall of 82.2 millimetres in the last three hours.

Similarly, Gorkha received 80 millimetres rainfall. According to the Department, more than 60 millimetres rainfall has occurred in Chitwan. According to the measurements, there is heavy rainfall in all three places. Katari of Udayapur and Barpak of Gorkha received excessive rainfall. Rainfall above 50 millimeters in 24 hours is considered as heavy rainfall.

Rainfall is taking place in other areas as well, the Department said. Rainfall also occurred in Lamjung, Makawanpur, Sindhupalchowk, Sankhuwasabha, Ilam, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Bardiya and Kaski, among other districts.

Information Officer at the Department, Dinkar Kayastha, said that the pollution level is expected to subside after this monsoon.
