The government spent only 19 per cent of its development expenditure in eight months

Kathmandu. Development expenditure up to mid-March of the current fiscal year has been weak. According to the Financial Comptroller General’s Office, only 19 percent of the capital expenditure has been made in the second quarter.

The federal government has allocated a total budget of Rs 1964.11 billion for the fiscal year 2019/20, while Rs 926.58 billion has been spent till mid-March. This is 47.18 percent of the annual allocation. Of the Rs 1180.98 billion allocated for the current heading, 54.37 per cent has been spent.

Out of Rs 407.88 billion allocated for capital management, 19.24 per cent has been spent while Rs 205.95 billion has been spent so far out of Rs 375.24 billion allocated under the head of financial management, the office stated.
