Kathmandu. Six political parties that have crossed the threshold (three per cent votes) in the election to the House of Representatives held on March 4 are submitting the names of candidates to be elected under the proportional representation system within the office hours.
Assistant spokesperson of the Election Commission, Kul Bahadur GC, said that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party (UML), Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Labour Culture Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have been sent letters on March 11 to submit the names of the elected candidates by 5:00 pm today.
A total of 1,12,80,617 votes were cast under the proportional representation category in the election held on March 4. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which gets the highest number of valid votes, will have to send the details of 57 lawmakers elected according to the cluster. Similarly, the NC has 20 candidates, the CPN-UML has 16, the NCP has nine, the Labour Culture Party and the RPP have ÷four candidates each, he said, adding that the list of candidates for the election has to be submitted to the Election Commission by 5:00 pm today.
The EC will publish the names of the elected candidates today itself on the basis of their representation as per the cluster of names received from the political parties. Spokesperson GC said that if it is not corrected, a time will be fixed for the correction. As per the law, 110 candidates will be elected under the proportional representation system.
