Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has found 6,377 gas cylinders stored in the godown of Shree Ram Gas Industry at Harisiddhi, Lalitpur.

A monitoring team of the Department found a gas cylinder weighing 14.2 kg in the godown of the industry. The department has slapped a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the industry. The Department has stated that it has been directed to make arrangements for the sale and distribution of LPG cylinders in coordination and presence of Nepal Oil Corporation.

The department has urged the government to ease the distribution system without creating artificial shortage affecting the supply when the demand for cooking gas is high.

According to the NOC, the distribution of LPG is facing problems as consumers are storing more gas fearing that there will be no supply due to the tension developed in the Middle East. (
