Jhapa. A total of 6,791 tourists from various third countries have entered Nepal through Kakarvitta border point in the past eight months.
According to Tulasi Bhattarai, chief of Immigration Office, Kakarvitta, tourists entered Nepal from the eastern border from mid-July to mid-March of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
He said 284 tourists visited Nepal in July, 219 in August, 541 in September, 624 in October, 873 in November, 1,850 in December, 1,395 in January and 1,005 in February.
A total of 3,133 Nepalis were stranded abroad during the same period, he said. A total of 6,552 tourists have returned home after completing the immigration process through the checkpoint, while 1,847 Nepalis have also gone abroad.
In the last fiscal year 2081/82, a total of 8,723 tourists from third countries had entered Nepal through the same checkpoint.
