Flora Expo to be held at Bhrikutimandap

. The 27th Flora Expo is going to be held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from March 18 to 22.

Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha, president of Floriculture Association Nepal, said that they are also planning to increase the commercial production of Nepali indigenous plants in the future and export them to the international market as well as organize an international conference.

According to him, the Flora Expo, which has been organized for the last 27 years, has become an important platform for floriculture entrepreneurs. There will be a total of 83 stalls in this year’s Flora Expo. There will be 65 business stalls, 11 official stalls and other competitive stalls. Competition will be held among florists in different categories and the best winners will receive cash prizes and certificates.

The fair will also run a plant clinic with experts to provide advice on plant diseases and pests. As part of its social responsibility, a blood donation program will be organized at the fair venue on March 6.

According to the organizers, more than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the expo and business transaction worth more than Rs 12 million is expected.

The flower market in Nepal has expanded significantly due to the Flora Expo. According to Shrestha, roses worth Rs 80 million were sold during Valentine’s week. Currently, the floriculture business is spread to 52 districts, he said. More than Rs 6.85 billion has been invested in this sector. In the last fiscal year 2080/81, the floriculture business had reached Rs 3.37 billion.

The theme for this year’s fair is ‘Floriculture Business for Clean Environment, Employment and Economic Prosperity’.
