Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the government’s policy of attracting foreign investment to productive sector and mobilizing the capital of the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) in a safe and transparent manner was in the government’s priority.
For this, the government has a policy of building long-term investment structure. Addressing the concluding session of the 12th general convention and conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) here today, Prime Minister Karki praised the Nepalis spread across the globe as goodwill ambassadors of Nepal.
She also urged the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) to actively participate in Nepal’s journey towards development and prosperity, stressing the need to utilize the knowledge, skills, experience and capital gained abroad for the development of motherland.
Prime Minister Karki said that the end of the divisions seen in the party from the recently concluded general convention and the unity at a single forum was positive. She was of the view that common sentiment of Nepalis across the globe could be strengthened only through unity and collaboration.
Stating that the Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed citizenship along with economic, social and cultural rights to the Non-Resident Nepalis, the Prime Minister said that this has further strengthened the relation between the Non-Resident Nepalis and the motherland.
Extending best wishes to newly elected President Dr Hemraj Sharma and the new working committee of the NRNA, he said that the contribution of the NRNs would not only be economic but also significant in building social capital.
He was of the view that cooperation, investment, knowledge and innovation of all Nepalis living in and outside the country were necessary to make Nepal an opportunity and a prosperous nation. He expressed the belief that unity and commitment expressed through the general convention would give new direction for Nepal’s development and prosperity.
