Kathmandu. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said that the Election Commission conducted the election to the House of Representatives 2082 by breaking the uncertainty regarding whether the election would be held or not.
Addressing a programme organised to distribute certificates to lawmakers elected under the proportional representation system organized by the Election Commission at the party’s central office Bahadur Bhawan today, the former Prime Minister recalled that he had faced questions whether the election was still held or not. Acting CEC Bhandari said the election was possible due to the determination of the Election Commission to hold it and it was supported by all political parties, civil society and intellectuals.
“There was uncertainty whether the election would be held or not amidst demands such as Nepalis living abroad should be allowed to vote, voters should be allowed to vote as they are outside the electoral area,” he said.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari said that the election could be held because the candidates of various political parties who had participated in the election also participated without panic. The Election Commission has been successful in conducting the election in a free, fair, and fearless manner amidst confusion. On March 21, the election atmosphere was not disturbed anywhere.
The EC has also stated that no action has been taken against anyone for violating the election code of conduct. In this election, there was no need to conduct re-polling at any polling station. He also informed that Nepal’s Election Commission is among the 10 countries conducting free, fair and fair elections. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari also informed that election observers from abroad had also reported that Nepal held a free, fair and fair election in the first century of Nepal.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari also drew the attention of the newly-elected lawmakers to endorse the draft of the election law sent by the EC two and a half years ago from the Home Ministry.
“The local level election has to be held after 14 months, so the election law should be passed from the next session, there are 10 laws related to the election, the draft prepared in a way to make all of them a single should be forwarded,” he said.
He also suggested the government to work in a way not to betray the trust of the people as they have high expectations from the newly-elected parliamentarians. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari also urged the newly-elected lawmakers to be active in formulating laws as per the people’s aspirations.
