Trump threatens to destroy South Pars gas field if Iran continues to attack Qatar’s energy infrastructure

Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran at a time when the war in the Middle East is taking a serious toll on energy security. He warned that if Tehran continued to attack Qatar’s energy infrastructure, the United States would massively destroy Iran’s vast South Pars gas field.

Global crude oil prices have risen nearly five percent since the recent attacks, raising concerns that supply chains could be affected in the long term. Iran has carried out a series of attacks on energy facilities in the Gulf region, including Qatar’s Ras Lafan LNG facility, in retaliation for Israel’s attack in the southern region of Pars.

In a series of tweets, Trump called on Iran to stop the attacks. He said that if Iran stopped attacking Qatar, there would be no further attacks from Israel, adding that the US was not aware of previous Israeli attacks in southern Persia. But he warned that if Iran refused, the United States would intervene directly.

Meanwhile, the energy market has become more volatile due to disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Thousands of people are believed to have died in Iran after the U.S.-Israeli invasion, but Tehran has continued its missile and drone attacks. According to Qatar’s energy company, the fire in the Ras Lafan area has been brought under control after the Iranian missile fire. Saudi Arabia has said it will respond militarily if necessary after it foiled an attempt to attack its energy infrastructure.

The human impact of the conflict is also increasing. At least 15 people, including a foreign worker, were killed by Iranian missiles in Israel, and three women were killed by missile debris in the West Bank. Assassinations of high-ranking security officials continue in Iran. Iran’s leadership has reacted strongly to the assassination of the intelligence chief, warning of retaliation. The new supreme leadership has expressed outrage that “blood must be paid.”

The US intelligence chief has said that Iran’s governance structure is weak but not completely destroyed. Meanwhile, tensions have also spread in Lebanon and Iraq with the active participation of pro-Iran groups. Civilians are being displaced in Lebanon as Israeli attacks intensify. Many have fled to safer places. In Iraq, armed groups have temporarily halted attacks on the US Embassy.

Overall, the escalating military confrontation over energy infrastructure is a sign that the global crisis is deepening, not just regional.
