Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has urged the NRNs to link their capital, skills and experience with Nepal’s economic development and prosperity.

Welcoming the newly elected working committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) at the FNJ Secretariat, Teku on Friday, President Dhakal said that there was ample potential for investment in Nepal.

He expressed the view that an environment conducive for investment has now been created as many policy reforms have been made at the initiative of the FNCCI. “The FNCCI has made many policy reforms by lobbying extensively with the Government of Nepal on issues of reducing policy and procedural complexities, creating conducive environment for attracting foreign investment and other procedural simplifications. If we have a good collaboration, we can do a lot for Nepal and Nepalis,” he said.

Stating that Nepal Development Company Limited has been established at the initiative of FNCCI and works are on to promote investment in energy, infrastructure, tourism and other productive sectors, he urged NRNA to invest in the company and co-invest in potential projects.

On the occasion, NRNA President Dr. Hemraj Sharma said that the Non-Resident Nepalis also want to be partners in Nepal’s development. “The non-residential movement was weak due to various reasons. Now we have unanimously held the general convention of unity. When the Nepali Diaspora is united, there will be more clarity about the message it gives and the work to be done in Nepal. Our emphasis is that we can utilize our knowledge, skills and capital for the development of Nepal,” he said.

On the occasion, FNCCI Vice-President Sur Krishna Baidya said that investment was necessary for the economic prosperity of the country.

Similarly, Treasurer of FNCCI Bharat Raj Acharya urged the investors to invest in the nudge economy of Nepal.

On the occasion, discussions were held on Nepal’s priority sectors including tourism, energy, infrastructure development, transportation, information technology and other sectors.
