Kathmandu. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds has been occurring in Kathmandu for some time. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, windy conditions are taking place in various parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley. Meteorologist at the Department Bibhuti Pokharel said that there is a possibility of further intensification of the storm.

The Department said there is a risk of trees falling down on the roadside, uprooting of electric and telephone poles, breaking wires and blowing off the roofs made of corrugated zinc sheets.

In such a situation, the Department has urged the general public not to travel riskably and stay in safe places until the storm stops. Parents and bodies concerned have also been urged to pay special attention to the safety of the students as it is the time for the school bus to depart.
