Dang. Saigha of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-19 has access to electricity service. Locals are happy with the expansion of electricity service.

Dhan Bahadur Sarki, a local of Saigha Boldi, said that they are relieved after the electricity service has reached the village. He said that electricity service was restored to his house only a month ago. “Earlier, we had to live in darkness. The children had to rely on a lamp or solar bulb to study”, he said, adding, “Now it has become easier with the lights on in the house.” ”

According to him, they had to go to a village 30 minutes away to charge their mobile phones. With the availability of electricity in the village, that problem has now ended. It was difficult to provide light at night when someone fell ill in the house. I still remember the day when I fell ill and brought solar from Ghorahi bazaar and lit it.

He complained that they have been neglected for not getting basic services even though they live within the sub-metropolis. According to the locals, it was difficult to run small businesses due to lack of electricity. Mills, tailoring, computer service, welding were not possible. Now it has become a little easier. According to the locals, an environment has been created where the youths can do something in the village.

Ghorahi-19 ward chair Gyan Bahadur Rayamajhi said works have been initiated with the goal of expanding electricity service in all settlements of the ward. He said that he is working for this. He said that he had started the electrification work in 2079 BS by inviting a contract at a cost of Rs 36.7 million.

Even though efforts were made before that, it could not be fruitful. He further informed that the work was continued through another bidding process towards the end of 2080 BS to supply electricity to the remaining areas. He, however, said that the project could not move ahead effectively as the contractor company did not work on time. Rayamajhi said that this has created problems in their plan to provide electricity to the people’s homes quickly.

According to him, many settlements in Saigha have been electrified but Lithan, Satam, Dandagaun, Panchpokhari and Dhanchaur among other settlements are yet to receive the service. He said that pressure is being exerted to complete the works in these areas as soon as possible. Locals expect that along with electricity, attention should also be paid to other infrastructure development. As the ward is a hilly area, it is necessary to improve roads, drinking water, health services and education.
