The FNCCI has called its 60th general meeting on April 29 and 30, which will elect a new working committee for the next three years.TAG_OPEN_p_30 According to the party statute, senior vice-president Anjan Shrestha will automatically become the president for a term of three years. Elections will be held for other posts except the chairperson.

There is no direct competition for the post of president and the election of senior vice-president is indirect. This time, the main enthusiasm of the election is limited to the objective group. Shiva Ghimire and Naresh Lal Shrestha are seen as the main contenders for the post of commodity vice-president. They have been carrying out election-centric activities for the last two years. In other positions, there is little preparation or enthusiasm.

The main reason for this is that after three years, the federation will elect the president through direct election. As of now, the provision of “senior vice-president automatically becoming the chairperson” has been amended. Therefore, in order to strengthen the competition for the post of president after three years, various groups have already started the work of increasing influence and building teams.
