Kathmandu. The United States has issued a permit to lift a temporary embargo on Iranian oil in the Sea for 30 days to address supply shortages amid the ongoing shipping disruption in Hormuz.
The U.S. State Department’s authorization allows the transportation and sale of Iranian-origin crude oil and petroleum products loaded onto ships starting Friday.
The ship is also allowed for a variety of services, including the protection of the health or safety of crew members, emergency repairs and environmental protection.
Transactions in the permit include the import of crude oil and petroleum products of Iranian origin into the United States.
The U.S. source said it would not allow new purchases or production, saying it would only allow oil in transit with temporary and short-term restrictions.
Washington has already eased sanctions on Russian and Venezuelan oil in addition to emergency oil reserves with the help of the International Energy Agency.
The war between the United States, Israel and Iran has raged for three weeks, severely disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
