Kathmandu. At least 66 soldiers have been killed and dozens injured after a Hercules C-130 plane crashed in Colombia.

The accident took place in Puerto Leguizamo, in the southern Amazon region, near the Peruvian border. The Defense Ministry said that the plane went about one and a half kilometers away from the runway.

According to the head of the Colombian Air Force, there were 114 soldiers and 11 crew members on board.

The Hercules C-130 is one of the world’s most reliable military transport aircraft. It has been used for everything from transporting troops, weapons and relief materials to natural disasters, health emergencies and other special tasks.
