Kathmandu. Global IME Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (IOP) for providing cost-free cataract surgery to the poor, senior citizens and the underprivileged.
Chairman of the Bank Chandra Prasad Dhakal and founder and executive director of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology Prof. Dr. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Sanduk Ruitt.
The MoU was signed by Surendra Raj Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and Dr. Rita Gurung signed. As per the MoU, Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology will provide free cataract surgery to economically weaker citizens, senior citizens and underprivileged people in seven different provinces with the financial support of Global IME Bank.
It has also been agreed that eyeglasses would be distributed free of cost to economically weak and poor girl students and students studying in the school. Addressing the signing ceremony, Chairman Dhakal said that Global IME Bank has been continuing the tradition of giving back a part of profit to the society since its establishment.
He said, “We have tried to take these social responsibility programs equally in all the seven provinces because we believe that where we do business and where we make profit, we also have the greatest responsibility towards the society.” ”
As a part of its corporate social responsibility, the bank has been carrying out various programs in education, health, environment, humanitarian assistance, sustainable development goals and relief during natural disasters through its branches in all 77 districts of the country.
Similarly, founder and executive director of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Prof. Dr. Stating that there are both opportunities and challenges in the partnership with Nepal Bank, Ruit said that he will work in a way that will make the partnership with Global IME Bank sustainable. He also said that they emphasise on transparency and efficient management in any program.
CEO Regmi said that the partnership between Nepal’s biggest bank and reputed organization like Tilganga has encouraged the bank to run CSR programs and this collaboration will be further expanded in the days ahead.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the bank Mr. Suman Pokharel, senior officials of the bank and other officials of the foundation.
