Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Chaudhary Group, a leading business house in Nepal, has partnered with Marriott International, the leading hotel group to launch the iconic luxury brand ‘The Ritz-Carlton’ in Nepal. This is one of the largest investments made in the hospitality sector in Nepal.
Founded in 1983, the Ritz-Carlton brand operates more than 108 hotels and resorts in 30 countries. CG Hospitality Global, a part of Chaudhary Group, has partnered with Rabindra Shrestha (IJ Group), Saurav Sharma ((Sharma and Company), Amrit Shakya and Sanchit Shrestha for this historic investment.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu was held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu. The project will also include 150-room ultra-luxury hotel, branded residence, business complex and a casino.
The project is being developed in 9 ropanis of land in Thamel near Durbarmarg with an estimated cost of around $100 million.
The project is targeted to be completed by mid-2029. Once completed, the hotel’s room rate is expected to be more than $1,000 per night, which will establish Nepal as a high-quality tourist destination.
Through this project, CG Hospitality and partners demonstrate the new government’s trust in the private sector and commitment to its investment promotion goals. The investors expect that the project will be focused on job creation, attracting investment and taking Nepal’s development to the next level.
