Finance Minister Dr Wagle vows to boost morale of private sector after Genji agitation

. Newly appointed Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has expressed his commitment to identify and resolve legal and practical problems to boost the morale of the private sector that was scarred by the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24.

He also pointed out the possibility of formulating a separate law of an integrated nature for the implementation of big projects.TAG_OPEN_div_50

He said the promotion of good governance, easing service delivery and expediting infrastructure construction would be the top priorities of the government.TAG_OPEN_div_48

While giving directives to the employees while taking charge of the Ministry of Finance at Singha Durbar, he stressed the need to work in a result-oriented way to address the current economic and administrative challenges.TAG_OPEN_div_46 “Responsibility is huge and expected achievement would not be achieved by carrying out works in a general manner.

Finance Minister Wagle expressed the view that the bureaucracy mechanism would automatically support the political leadership if it was clear, transparent and fair.TAG_OPEN_div_44 “When the political leadership is blurred, the bureaucracy is affected, and if the leadership is good, the institution itself will be strengthened,” he said.

Finance Minister Wagle said that the government should be strict on the issues of good governance and that only formulation of laws was not enough but their honest implementation was mandatory.TAG_OPEN_div_42 “We should create a situation where the citizens do not have to take bribe and stand in queue, and improvement in service delivery is the very important agenda of the incumbent government,” he argued.

Recalling the economic reforms of the 2050s for the revival of TAG_OPEN_div_38 the economy, he said that the second phase of economic reform was necessary now. According to him, emphasis would be laid on physical infrastructure development, especially expansion of air and site connectivity.

Stating that new and amended laws would be forwarded expeditiously on the basis of priority, he said data-driven policies would be formulated and successful practices of the past would be continued.TAG_OPEN_div_31 Expressing hope that the parliament and parliamentary committees would be made effective, he reminded that the main role of the parliamentarians was to legislate. “The government will provide necessary business to the parliament,” he said.

He pledged to work towards graduating Nepal from LDC status by 2026 and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.TAG_OPEN_div_29

Citing the examples of the leadership of Subarna Shumsher, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, he stressed the need of protecting the state’s property ‘like Sheshnag’.
