Law Minister Gautam takes first decision: Formation of study task force for expeditious justice and punishment for heinous crimes

Kathmandu. Newly-appointed Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, said that the government would focus on formulating laws that need to be improved. Immediately after taking oath of office and secrecy, President Bhandari said that he would sign a study on the reforms to be made in the Civil Code, 2074 and other codes and pay attention to the formulation of laws that need to be improved.

Minister Gautam signed the decision to form a task force to identify the obstacles seen in the criminal code, 2074 including rape and murder, sexual violence, punishment to the perpetrators of crimes related to children and to provide speedy justice to the victims.

Minister Gautam said, “We will carry out all the studies on the new laws and amendments that were stalled in the past. The member of the House of Representatives elected from Chitwan Constituency No 3 is represented by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Born on Asar 17, 2052 BS in Dolakha, Gautam has been living in Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan. He has completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Law. She is currently studying LLM at Kathmandu School of Law.

Gautam, who has been active in law, human rights and public issues before entering politics, has been attending various youth campaigns and policy debates. He also has the experience of resolving legal problems and rights violations through the legal process.
