Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the newly-formed TAG_CLOSE_em_10 TAG_OPEN_em_10 government of being vindictive{TAG_OPEN_em_9}} and prejudiced{{TAG_CLOSE_em_8{TAG_OPEN_em_7}}} . Police arrested him from his residence in Gundu of Bhaktapur on Saturday morning. A police team was stationed around Oli’s house at night.

Police have taken Oli to the Kathmandu Police Range, Bhadrakali. He was arrested on charges of “negligent death” of a civilian during the Jenji protest on September 23, police said.

According to sources, Oli immediately consulted his legal advisers after the police arrived with a warrant to arrest him.TAG_OPEN_p_14 Before his arrest, he had met with former Attorney General Ramesh Badal and senior advocate Tikaram Bhattarai and discussed the legal basis of the case.

During the consultation, Oli said, “This arrest is motivated by vendetta and prejudice.TAG_OPEN_p_13 I will fight a legal battle against it. ”

Senior advocate Bhattarai also said that preparations are being made to challenge Oli’s arrest through the court claiming that {{TAG_CLOSE_em_6 TAG_OPEN_em_6}} is illegal.
