Myagdi. Dhawalagiri rural municipality-5, Malkawang of Myagdi district has been electrified through the central transmission line.
The electrification has been done by expanding the central transmission line from Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-6 Marang to Malkawang under the ‘Ujjyalo Myagdi’ programme implemented by Nepal Electricity Authority. Amar Chhantyal, chairperson of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-5, said that the locals have been illuminated by installing poles of main and branch lines, pulling wires and installing 100 KVA transformers.
Last November, the transmission line was tested and the transformer was charged. Ward Chair Chhantyal said that the central line has been connected to every household since this month after the installation of meter box and wiring were completed. “In the first phase, 43 houses, ward offices, health posts and schools have been installed and 46 meters have been installed,” he said, adding that the NEA has committed to expand the transmission line at Hopakhola tole in the next phase. ”
Malampar Tole of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5 was electrified last June, while electricity will be supplied to Bhedikhalta from Malkawang. The locals here are currently using electricity generated by Nandibang Khola Micro Hydropower Project.
The NEA has launched a plan with a budget of Rs 220 million from the fiscal year 2080/81 to expand electricity facility of 2,183 households of 14 places of Myagdi district.
Under this project, 600 households of Malika rural municipality-1, Niskot, 2 Rum, Dadagaun, Patle, ward-4, Okharbot, 100 houses of Churibot, 150 houses of Malampar of Dhawalagiri rural municipality and 45 houses of Bul have been electrified.
Satya Narayan Gami, chief of Beni Distribution Centre of Nepal Electricity Authority, said that the transformer has already been charged in Lulang, which is home to 370 households. The electrification work at Sisneri and Mahavir of Malika rural municipality has reached the final stage. The contract will provide central electricity facility to all settlements except Gurja in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-1, according to Chief Gami.
