Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle today took stock of the monitoring of the Department of Customs and its activities.
Inquiring about the overall functioning of the department, the status of revenue collection and the upcoming targets, he directed the employees to work honestly to achieve the revenue target.
Stating that special attention should be maintained for maintaining transparency and accountability in revenue collection, Minister Wagle said the Ministry would bring incentives to those employees working honestly. “The Ministry can arrange the required incentives if there is honesty and commitment in revenue collection,” he said.
Minister Dr Wagle stressed the need for increasing revenue collection to achieve the government’s goal of broader prosperity. He said that Prime Minister Balendra Shah has also shown special concern in this regard and regular monitoring is being done by the Ministry and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
On the occasion, Minister Wagle also inspected the customs laboratory under the Department. During the inspection, necessary directives were issued to enhance the capacity of the laboratory and increase service effectiveness, according to the Secretariat.
