Kathmandu. In a notable move toward inclusive leadership and greater organizational transparency, Akshya Golyan has launched a new internal engagement platform, “Vaarta” (Dialogue), at Golyan Group, marking a cultural shift within one of Nepal’s largest business houses.

In a widely popular post on LinkedIn on Tuesday, the 37-year-old chairman shared a video of himself engaging directly with employees, underscoring a leadership style centered on listening, collaboration, and trust.

“Your voices and perspectives have helped us realize the real strength within us,” Golyan said. “Every question, idea, and concern carries significance for the future of this institution.”

Since assuming leadership in Mangsir, Golyan, representing the third generation of a business legacy spanning more than six decades, has been working to reshape both the group’s internal culture and strategic direction. The “Vaarta” initiative is a key component of this transformation. In its initial phase, Golyan conducted in-person dialogue sessions with employees at the group’s headquarters, Golyan Tower, allowing staff to openly share feedback, concerns, and ideas, an approach that contrasts with traditionally hierarchical corporate practices.

According to Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Public Relations, the initiative is designed to engage mid-level and junior employees who typically have limited access to top leadership. “This informal platform encourages open dialogue between the chairman and employees, helping build trust, enhance transparency, and strengthen relationships across all levels of the organization,” she said.

Golyan has also emphasized that employee feedback will play a direct role in shaping decision-making processes, linking internal dialogue with organizational planning and execution. The initiative comes as the Golyan Group, one of Nepal’s largest employers with around 10,000 staff, seeks to strengthen its internal capabilities and enhance global competitiveness.

With a strong presence across manufacturing, renewable energy, agriculture, and hospitality, the group is aligning its workforce culture with its broader ambition of building internationally competitive businesses. An alumnus of a leading global business school in Spain, Golyan appears to be steering the organization toward a more modern, participatory, and innovation-driven corporate environment.

At a time when employee engagement and workplace culture are becoming central to productivity and retention, the “Vaarta” initiative could set a new benchmark for corporate Nepal, reflecting a broader shift in which leadership is defined not just by authority but by accessibility and responsiveness.
