Kathmandu. The government has eased the health check-up of the workers going for foreign employment. Issuing a press release on Tuesday, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security stated that the workers going for foreign employment can get their health check-up done by the health institutions approved by the government or owned by the government.
Clause 72 (1) of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 BS states that a worker going for foreign employment should undergo health check-up from a health institution approved by the Government of Nepal before going abroad.
Similarly, Rule 45A of the Foreign Employment Regulations, 2064. Sub-rule (9) of the Act states that the provision in this Rule shall not be deemed to have the government get the health check-up of the workers going for foreign employment through the health institutions owned by the Government of Nepal.
However, for a long time, a separate health institution has been established for those going abroad for employment and it has been done through a limited number of institutions through syndicate. With the formation of the new government, the Ministry has forwarded the process to grant permission to more government and approved hospitals for health check-up by ending the syndicate of the workers going for foreign employment.
