. KATHMANDU: A police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested four persons including the chairman and manager of Gorkha Savings and Credit Operative.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Manohar Bhatta, the cooperative’s chairman Iman Singh Rai, CEO Lal Bahadur Chhetri, PAC members Karna Bahadur Rai and Abin Kumar Rai were arrested.

They were arrested from different places in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday, Bhatta said. They have been sent to the District Police Range, Lalitpur for further investigation. The cooperative has embezzled more than Rs 4.5 billion from 10,500 savers.
