Persa. As many as 497 electric jeeps, cars and vans worth Rs 1.48 billion have been imported through Birgunj border point in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. The office has collected revenue of Rs 963.6 million from the import of electric vehicles.
In the same period last year, 165 electric, jeeps, cars and vans worth Rs 430.1 million were imported. The office had collected Rs 35.50 crore revenue from the import of these vehicles.
Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of electric vehicles has increased in comparison to the last seven months. In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 1,128 electric motorcycles worth Rs 80.57 crore were imported. In the same period last year, 3,374 electric motorcycles worth Rs 440.3 million were imported.
In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 609 fuel-powered jeeps, cars and vans were imported worth Rs 1.16 billion. The office has collected Rs 2.86 billion in revenue from the import of vehicles. In the first seven months of the last fiscal year, 748 fuel-powered jeeps, cars and vans worth Rs 1.50 billion were imported. The government had collected Rs 3.73 billion in revenue from the import of petroleum vehicles in the same period of the current fiscal year.
The office has imported vehicles and spare parts worth Rs 23.57 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. Whereas in the first seven months of the last fiscal year, revenue of Rs 13.26 billion was collected from the import of vehicles and spare parts.
