. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has started re-enlisting the farmers after five months.
The online system, which was started with the objective of providing various services including identity cards to the farmers, could not be operated from November 9 due to technical problems.TAG_OPEN_div_18
The programme has been designed to provide chemical fertilizers, seeds, subsidies, service management and facilities to the enlisted farmers, said Mahananda Joshi, information officer at the ministry.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Preparation is underway to include the remaining farmers in the census and add them to the system.
} The system has been integrated data collection and record with the actual farmers by identifying the real farmers by coordinating with the local levels across the country.
According to the Agriculture Census, 2078 BS, there are 41.30 lakh farmers and so far 23.93 lakh farmers have been included in the list.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The Centre for Agriculture, Information and Training under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has urged farmers to register their names at the concerned local level.
According to Sanjeev Pandit, an officer at the Centre, the farmers have been categorized into four types—details of their land, income status, agricultural production, subsistence farmers, small farmers, medium farmers and big farmers.TAG_OPEN_div_10
