Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has said its serious attention has been drawn towards the leakage of evidences that some institutional schools of the country were enrolling students before the start of the academic session 2083 by violating the Education Bylaws and the Supreme Court’s order.

Issuing a press release today, the Ministry has urged all schools to enroll students only after the commencement of the new academic session as per the legal provisions and the Supreme Court’s order. It has also requested the government not to collect fees other than those stipulated by the Institutional School Fee Determination Criteria Guideline-2072.

The Ministry has also urged all local levels concerned to take forward the legal process to return the admission fee collected from the parents in an illegal manner to the concerned school.

“The Ministry’s serious attention has been drawn to the disclosure of evidences that some institutional schools in various districts of the country were admitting students and collecting heavy fees before the commencement of the academic session 2083 by violating the legal provisions under the Education Bylaws and the Supreme Court’s order dated April 5,” reads the statement.

The Ministry has also warned that action would be taken against the schools failing to return the fees within the stipulated time, as per the Education Act and other prevailing laws. The Ministry has also drawn the attention of the schools themselves to be aware that such illegal acts would not only be indecent but also punishable in a dignified and responsible system like the operation of the school.
