Snowfall has turned entire hills and hills from Syangwache to Korala checkpoint of Waragung Mukti Kshetra-3. According to him, settlements in the upper Mustang received one foot of snowfall.

Ghiling, Ghami, Charang, Lomanthang, Thingar, Chhoser, Samjung, Namasung, Barsa, Yara, Ghara, Dhi and Surkhang among other places have received heavy snowfall for the sixth time. An employee of Lomanthang rural municipality, Udaya Timilsina, said that normal life has been affected due to snowfall. “The snowfall has not stopped since Saturday night, the snowfall has continued and there is a possibility of more than two feet more snow if the snowfall continues till evening,” he said.

The grazing areas of the high mountain in Mustang have been covered with snow due to the sixth snowfall of the current season. With the snowfall, the temperature in Upper Mustang is dropping. Due to this, the snow has caused problems to the local people and livestock farmers.

One crop is cultivated in Upper Mustang every year. There is a tradition of planting rainy crops after returning to the village after escaping the winter winter. It is said that the snowfall during the rainy season will benefit the farmers.

Similarly, Baragung Muktinath area received snowfall on Saturday night. Heavy snowfall has occurred in Khinga, Jharkot, Pudak, Chhengur and Muktinath among other places in Waragung Mukti Chhetra-1, said Kaisang Thokya Thakuri, a local of Muktinath. Though the visitors to Muktinath are facing some difficulties due to snowfall, the beauty of the snowfall has added to the tourists’ enthusiasm, he said.

Likewise, heavy snowfall has occurred in the upper Mustang and Muktinath areas while heavy rainfall has occurred in the lower areas from Jomsom of Mustang. According to Roshan Thakali, agriculture section officer of Gharpajhong, heavy rainfall during the flowering season has affected apple farming. “The apple trees have started flowering and it is also the time for pollination in apple flowers,” said Thakali, adding, “Snowfall and rain at this time is not good for the farmers.” ”

Experts say that the impact of climate change is being felt directly and indirectly in the mountainous districts. Before this, Mustang had not received snowfall for three consecutive years. It has been analysed that the snowfall of six times this season is due to the effect of climate. Unequal snowfall in the mountainous region due to climate change has led to natural effects such as heavy snowfall in some years, partial snowfall in some years and no snowfall in others.
