Myagdi. A total of 44 mountaineers have taken permission to climb Mt Dhaulagiri and Mt Annapurna in the current spring season.
They have obtained permission to climb Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167 metres) in ward no. 4 of Dhaulagiri rural municipality and Mt Annapurna (8,091 m) in ward no. 4 of Annapurna rural municipality.
According to the Department of Tourism, 17 people including eight women from two groups have taken permission to climb Dhaulagiri. As per the latest details released by the Department, 27 mountaineers including eight women of four groups have taken permission to climb Mt Annapurna.
Section Officer Sharmila Banjade shared that they received 7.5 million 64 thousand 650 royalty from Dhaulagiri climbing permit and 12 million 49 thousand 175 royalty from Annapurna mountaineering permit. According to him, 170 climbers of 24 groups have taken permission to climb 12 mountains including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the spring season, and they have collected Rs 108.73 million royalty. The number of people getting climbing permits is increasing every day.
Last autumn, 36 mountaineers had taken permission to climb Mt Dhaulagiri while none had taken permission to climb Annapurna. In the spring season last year, 15 climbers of two groups had taken permission to climb Dhaulagiri while 66 climbers had taken permission to climb Annapurna. Meanwhile, teams of climbers have reached the base camp of Mt Annapurna and Mt Dhaulagiri and started preparations for the expedition.
