. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who has been carrying out ruthless action against corrupt, fraudsters and criminals, has been found to be cheated in the Fewa Lake land scam in Pokhara.

The land taken by Home Minister Gurung was found to be encroached upon at a time when he has been campaigning with Pokhara Metropolitan City to remove the structures constructed by encroaching the Fewa Lake land as per the Supreme Court’s order.

Minister Gurung and three other partners have been accused of cheating the landowners by concealing the fact that the land was encroached upon while taking the land on lease.

Minister Gurung along with three young entrepreneurs had come up with a plan to run ‘Adventure Sports Nepal’ some 8-10 years ago with the pious objective of promoting adventure tourism on the banks of Fewa Lake in Pokhara.

“We started the work with big investment and dreams with the enthusiasm and energy to do something for the country. Before renting the land, we were assured by the landowners that the land did not fall within the 65-meter limit. Even in the land ownership certificates, it was shown that the land was safe, but later the municipality came to know that it fell within the criteria,” said Minister Gurung.

Gurung said that they stopped the work immediately after realizing that they had been deceived. “As soon as I came to know about the fact that the land was leased out by deceiving us, I immediately stopped all construction work and investment on moral grounds. As a young entrepreneur, our dreams and investments are not acceptable,” he said.

Minister Gurung is preparing to seek legal remedy against this fraud. “I want to make everyone aware that we will move ahead without any deviation in the legal process for the stern legal remedy against this injustice and fraud,” Minister Gurung said.
