. Senior Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Anjan Shrestha thanked all political parties for giving priority to the issues of private sector in their election manifestos.
Stating that the private sector was suffering from burdensome taxation and policy instability in the country, he hoped that the parliament would play a role to end this.
He said they were ready to collaborate with the government and parliament to institutionalize the political changes that took place in the country after the Genji movement. He was of the view that the tendency to view profits from private sector and business with wrong perspective should end.
Dialogue organizer and FNCCI executive member Shiva Prasad Ghimire said time has come for the new government and private sector to work together for economic revolution. Ghimire, who is also the president of the Transport and Transit Committee of FNCCI, urged the government to expand the scope of tax rather than the rate of tax.
The private sector is in need of good governance and investment-friendly laws and cooperation from the government and parliament, he said.
KATHMANDU: Members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and representatives from private sector stressed on policy stability for economic development, prosperity and investment-friendly environment through mutual cooperation.
On the occasion, the members of the House of Representatives highlighted the contribution of the private sector in the country’s prosperity and employment generation and pledged to provide support to address the problems and challenges facing this sector.
Ganesh Parajuli of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) said that they were committed to collaboration with the private sector. He said that the parliament and its committees would fulfill the responsibilities of the parliament and its committees for the formulation of laws and policy arrangements. Stating that they have joined the government with massive support from the general public, lawmaker Parajuli stressed the need of cooperation from all sides to move the country ahead as per the aspirations of the younger generation.
Nepali Congress parliamentarian Narendra Raj Kerung said the private sector had significant role to boost the country’s economy. He also stressed the need to encourage private sector capital to be utilized for the country’s development. He said that the government should pay attention to the policy stability and the opposition party would also provide support to the government.
CPN-UML lawmaker Guru Baral said that they were ready to facilitate to resolve the problems of all the industrialists and entrepreneurs. He said that the government should behave responsibly instead of intimidating the private sector.
