Kathmandu. The ‘Youth Entrepreneur with Vice Chairperson’ programme implemented in Maijogmai Rural Municipality has created employment opportunities at the local level. Training on milk and ghee processing, millet biscuit production and lollipop manufacturing and milk processing were conducted this year.
The rural municipality had provided grant up to Rs two lakh to the entrepreneurs doing excellent work in the fields of beekeeping, cardamom farming, livestock, beauty parlour and biscuit production. “We have been providing materials and cash to the entrepreneurs who are active in business,” said Prabina Rai, vice-chairperson of the rural municipality. Our main objective is to create jobs at the local level. ’
After the first year of the training on milk and ghee processing, the materials were provided to Tul Bahadur Limbu’s Agriculture and Dairy Industry of ward-1, Pandey Dairy Industry of ward-2 Rekha Rijal and NS Dairy industry of ward-6.
As part of the program, a cash grant was awarded to encourage six outstanding businesses by providing training on millet biscuit production last year. Likewise, the Bhattarai Biscuit Bakery Industry operated by Parbati Bhattarai of Ward No. 1 was provided with the grant.
Similarly, Rudra Kumar Sanjel (ward no. 3), Sunaulo Agriculture and Livestock Farm (Sun Bahadur Limbu) of ward no. 4, Kushika Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Farm (ward no. 5), Kanchan Beauty Parlour and Training Center of Kanchan Acharya of ward no. 1 and Pashupati Livestock and Agriculture Farm operated by Laxmi Tamang and Pujan Pradhan of ward no. 3 were also provided cash grants.
This year, 30 people have been trained on lollipop making and milk processing. Now, the rural municipality has said that it will provide grants to those who make the skill commercial. Kush Bahadur Thebe, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that the programme has encouraged the youths to explore their potential in their own soil and not abroad.
Parbati Bhattarai, who received a grant of Rs two lakh for biscuit production, said that she was encouraged to become more entrepreneurial.
