Kathmandu. The government has proposed that the notice related to the tender will not be compulsorily published in daily newspapers. This provision has been included in the draft amendment of the Public Procurement Act.

The amendment proposal prepared by the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers states that there is no need to publish information about the tender through electronic system in other mediums.

As per the existing legal provision, the notice related to the tender or pre-qualification should be published in a national daily newspaper and the international media could also be published in the international media for international tenders. However, the proposed amendment clarifies that there is no need to print the information in newspapers if the information is called through the electronic purchase system.

With the implementation of this amendment, most of the tenders will now be published only through the website of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office and the practice of giving advertisements in newspapers will gradually end.
