. KATHMANDU, April 7: The Department of Money Laundering Investigation (CIAA) has sought permission from the Kathmandu District Court to arrest Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his spouse Dr Arzu Rana on April 7.

The matter came to light after the department issued a letter to arrest the Deuba couple. According to the letter, the department has sought permission to arrest the Deuba couple to investigate the crime of purging.

“Dadeldhura has been transferred to Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality Ward No. 2 of Dadeldhura district in connection with the investigation into the money laundering case. “We request for permission to arrest former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife as per the sub-section (2) and (4) of Section 9 of the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074, Section 15A of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064 and the following clauses (1) of Section 16 of the Act,” reads the letter.
