Head. The bank account of Lahan Municipality, which was frozen for the past four months, has been reopened from Thursday. With the opening of the account, the salary, social security allowance and development works of the employees that have been stalled for a long time will be paid.

Employees and teachers working in the municipality have not been able to get their salaries due to the freezing of their accounts. In addition to this, the school textbooks, scholarships, mid-day meal and school management grants have also been stopped. Employees and teachers had threatened to launch a stern protest if they were not cleared before the New Year 2083.

The main reason for the froze of the municipality’s account was the dispute over the transfer of Chief Administrative Officer Jayakant Jha. The municipality had objected to the government’s attempt to send an under-secretary to the education department in place of Jha. Jha had filed a case at the Administrative Court to stop his transfer, saying that only a few months were left for his retirement.

Although the court had ordered to keep the transfer in status quo on February 24, the problem was prolonged as the Ministry did not release the account. For now, Jayakant Jha will continue as the Chief Administrative Officer.

Mayor Chaudhary said he was aware of the problems faced by the service seekers and employees due to administrative complexities. “The long-standing hurdle has been removed, now the economic and administrative works of the municipality will resume and we will speed up all the halted processes,” he said. ”

The municipality has said that the process of distributing the stalled salary and social security allowance of the employees will move forward immediately after the account is opened.
