. Kathmandu : Minister for Health and Population Nisha Mehta today made an emergency monitoring of Bir Hospital and Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre.
The minister visited the hospital without any prior information to take stock of the real condition of the services provided by the hospital and the sufferings of the general public. During the onsite inspection, she had observed the hospital’s sanitation, pressure of patients, long queues, shortage of medicines and complications in health insurance.
During the inspection, the Minister expressed concern about the hassles faced by the citizens to avail the benefits of health insurance and the problem of waiting for hours even for basic medical treatment. Issuing directives to the hospital administration and concerned officials to pay attention to the cleanliness of the hospital, to make the shift management of patients technology-friendly and easy, and to remove the obstacles seen in the supply of medicines immediately. “People should feel relieved when they get services in government hospitals,” she said.
She also pledged that the Ministry would provide necessary coordination and support to resolve the present problems.
