Kathmandu. The government has so far tendered for the import of 4.65 lakh metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers.
The government has set a target of importing 5.5 lakh metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers in the current fiscal year. The government has allocated Rs 28.82 billion for the import of chemical fertilizers in the current fiscal year.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, 266,510 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers are being supplied till the second week of November. The Agricultural Inputs Company is importing 180,491 metric tonnes of chemical fertiliser while the Salt Trading Corporation is importing 86,016 metric tonnes.
The company is importing 88,213 metric tonnes of urea and 92,278 metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer. According to the Salt Trading Corporation, 24,498 metric tonnes of urea, 53,795 metric tonnes of DAP and 7,725 metric tonnes of potash is in the process of being imported.
Similarly, a total of 86,333 metric tonnes chemical fertilizers are in stock. Of this, 57,818 metric tonnes is available at Agriculture Inputs Company and 28,514 metric tonnes at Salt Trading Corporation.
According to the ministry, there are 120,597 metric tonnes of import in different routes of foreign countries. The ministry has clarified that all measures have been put in place to ensure smooth supply of chemical fertilizers for farming.
