{{TAG_OPEN_span_10} Nepalgunj. The private sector has drawn the attention of the government to operate direct flights from Nepalgunj to Delhi.

Submitting a memorandum to Prime Minister Sushila Karki through Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal at Nepalgunj on Sunday, President of Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nepalgunj Tanka Dhami said they have been effortful for the establishment of Nepalgunj-Delhi air service since a decade.

He urged the government to take policy and implementation steps for the construction of infrastructures for flights as direct air connectivity would make trade, industry and tourism of the region vibrant.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Khanal clarified that the incumbent government was formed in special circumstances and it could not work despite its wishes. Stating that a new government would be formed after the election to the House of Representatives on March 4, he said this government was there only for three months.

“We will not work to spoil the political situation and affect the election works,” he said. Abdul Wahid Mansuri, central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), urged the government to reduce customs duty on goods.

Association Chair Dhami said a huge amount of customs was leaked while importing goods from Rupaidiha and stressed the need to stop such leakage. The association had submitted a 21-point memorandum covering various issues.
