Ncell starts distributing new 971 number numbers

Kathmandu. Ncell Private Limited (Ncell) has started providing a new number starting from Monday (December 5) starting with a new number, Ren 971.

Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) had granted permission to Ncell to distribute these numbers in May.

This new number range has been issued as per the rules of the National Numbering Allocation Plan of the Authority. The new number range was assigned to Ncell through the number range 980, 981, 982 and 970 due to insufficient mobile numbers.

“We are thankful to the authority for granting permission for the new number range considering the market situation. After necessary preparations, the distribution of new number range numbers has started. In a context when the trend of digital transactions and availing services through mobile is increasing, the new numbers will benefit customers as well as service providers,” said Upang Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Ncell.

Along with the new numbers, Ncell has requested government and non-government organizations, service provider companies, offices, banks and financial institutions providing various services directly or indirectly to integrate the new number ÷range in their mobile systems soon, if any. For efficient service delivery, the service providers need to integrate÷update the new number range in their system.

Apart from telecommunication services, mobile number is required to obtain One Time Password (OTP) related to various services, sign up for mobile apps and web-based services, and perform various digital transactions. With the development of information technology and moving towards a digital future, mobile number has become an important medium to get various services easily and digitally.
