Rajesh Kumar Das, chief of the Kamala-Dhalkebar-Pathlaiya Road East Section Project under the East-TAG_OPEN_div_11 West Highway Expansion Project, said they received the order to cut down the trees after completing all process through the Division Forest Office, Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and Ministry of Forest and Environment.
More than 6,000 trees to be cut down for East-West highway expansion
Das said that orders have been received to cut down a total of 11,577 trees in Mahottari, Dhanusha and Sarlahi districts.TAG_OPEN_div_9 As per the plan, orders have been issued to cut down 3,674 trees in Sarlahi and 1,876 in Dhanusha. According to him, the road will be widened to 31 meters including six lanes in urban and market areas and 18 meters wide including four lanes in other areas.
