Kathmandu. Although various universities and educational institutions are operating in the country, a large amount of money is going abroad for education.
According to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the government has spent Rs 42.96 billion on education in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
In the same period of the previous year, the expenditure on education was Rs 32.22 billion. Around Rs 10 billion more has left the country for educational activities in the first four months of the current fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year.
In the review period, the travel expenses under the service account increased by 16.4 percent and reached Rs 64.59 billion. In the same period of the previous year, Nepal had spent Rs 55.49 billion.
In the review period, the travel income under the account increased by 8.1 percent to Rs 19.19 billion. Such income had decreased by Rs 17.76 billion in the same period of the previous year. In the review period, net service income stood at a loss of Rs 32.68 billion. In the same period of the previous year, the net service income had decreased by Rs 23.01 billion.
