Kathmandu. As per the declaration of the United Nations, ‘World Attention Day’ is being observed today.
The United Nations General Assembly has declared December 21 as World Attention Day. Accordingly, Dhyan Diwas is also being celebrated in Nepal. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has endorsed yoga and meditation as complementary measures for health.
On December 7 last year, the United Nations declared December 21 as World Meditation Day. The Day was celebrated at Tundikhel for the first time in the same year at the initiative of the government. This year too, the day is being celebrated at the initiative of the government.
Those involved in this sector are of the view that Nepal should be developed as the ‘meditation capital’ of the world. After 11 years of continuous efforts, the United Nations recognized the Meditation Day. This proposal has been in place since 2014. The World Meditation Day began after the United Nations General Assembly on December 7 last year passed a proposal from 18 countries including Nepal.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has organized a programme at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel this morning. Similarly, a group meditation will be held at Brahmananda Saraswati Gram at Bosan in Dakshinkali Municipality-1. On the occasion, other stakeholder bodies also organized various programmes today.
