Cardamom exports up by 60 per cent in five months

Jhapa. The export of cardamom has increased by 60.10 percent in the current fiscal year 2082/083 BS. According to the Mechi Customs Office, cardamom worth Rs 5.53 billion was exported during the period.

A total of 2,622.10 metric tonnes of cardamom was exported in the past five months, said Information Officer at the Office Ishwar Kumar Humagain. According to him, cardamom worth Rs 3.45 billion was exported in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2081/82.

As per the statistics of the office, the export of tea has decreased by 31.40 percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year. Tea worth Rs 1.85 billion was exported during the period. Information Officer Humagain shared that tea worth Rs 2.70 billion was exported in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2081/82.

According to the office’s statistics, the export of veneer seat increased by 129.90 percent, chhurpi by 32 percent, ginger, lettuce by 48.70 percent, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage by 36.10 percent and lentils by 481 percent. Similarly, the export of padded (46 per cent), amriso (35.50 per cent) and iron sheets (97.80 per cent) has decreased.

In the first five months of the current fiscal year 2082/083, goods worth Rs 10.71 billion were exported.
