Rasuwa. The Rasuwagadhi checkpoint, which has remained closed for the past six months, has resumed from today. The Nepali truck drivers have started heading towards Kerung from 7:00 am today.

Chief District Officer of Rasuwa district, Rajesh Panthi, said that the Chinese counterpart had informed us that the Rasuwagadhi transit would be opened by another Chinese counterpart and informed about the construction of a bailey bridge over Lhende River between Nepal and China.

Nepali drivers and representatives of transport entrepreneurs have already left for Kerung for bringing containers and wagons, said Police Inspector at Timure Border Police Post, Bikram Kunwar.

Chief Customs Officer Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai said that the revenue collected from customs duty has been lost by Rs 20 billion in comparison to the last fiscal year due to the closure of trade and business since mid-July due to the flooding of Lhendekhola-Miteri bridge.

The floods have damaged the under-construction dry port at Bhotekoshi Bagar in Timure and the rivers have eroded the 16-km road at Rasuwagadhi and Syafrubesi.
