Sarlahi. Ward Chairman of Malangawa municipality-7, Musaili, Mo Isha Mikrani, has been arrested for granting citizenship to Indian nationals. Ward Chair Mikrani has been accused of granting citizenship to Indian citizens.

According to the District Administration Office, Sarlahi, further investigation has been initiated after ward chair Mikrani was found involved in obtaining citizenship by an Indian national.

The Sarlahi District Court Malangwa on November 5 had issued an order to arrest Ward Chair Mikrani after the District Government Attorney’s Office wrote a letter on May 5 demanding further investigation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai said that he was arrested from Malangawa-2 in course of a search operation.

Following the arrest, the court has remanded him in custody for two days and further investigation into the case is underway, police said. Police have not revealed the identity of the Indian nationals as investigation is underway.
