Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has carried out monitoring and inspection at 17 different firms in Lalitpur.

During the inspection, two firms were fined in cash.

According to the department, it has slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on Shakti Marbles, Lalitpur. Similarly, RK Brothers Lalitpur has been fined Rs 15,000.

The action was taken against the firms as per Section 39 (1) (d) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 for the offence as per Section 15 and Section 38 (d) of the same Act.

The department said that corrective instructions have been given to 15 other firms. The Department has been regularly monitoring the market to control black marketing and maintain cleanliness.

The department claims that the market monitoring and inspection will continue in collaboration with the local administration and people’s representatives.
