Kathmandu. The 13th National Dress and International Dress Day is being observed across the country today.
Youths have been marking the Day for the past 13 years under the slogan ‘Nepali Topi: Our Identity’. The National Dress and Topi Day is being celebrated since 2070 BS to establish the Daura, Suruwal, Topi and Gunyu Choli among the youths as Nepali identity.
On the occasion of the National Day, many people have posted pictures of them wearing national dress on social media. National Dress Day has been celebrated on January 1 for the last 13 years, which is said to have contributed to the renaissance of the national dress.
The youths have started this campaign spontaneously after the practice of celebrating it as a national dress was formally abolished in the past. On this occasion, special programmes have been organized in different places of the capital today.
