Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has imposed cash fines on two firms. The Department has slapped a fine of Rs 200,000 on Manjushree Plastic Industries Changunarayan-2, Bhaktapur after it was found to be incompetent.

Likewise, Shree Polythene and Plastic Industry Pvt Ltd has been slapped a fine of Rs 50,000. According to the Department, action was taken against these industries as per Section 16 2 A and Section 38 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 as per Section 39 (1) of the same Act.

The Department had carried out inspections in 17 different industries and firms based in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Of them, 15 firms were given corrective instructions. The Department has been continuously monitoring and monitoring with the participation of local administration and consumer rights activists.
