Kathmandu. Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Baniya has pledged to waive the tax and renewal fees of vehicles damaged by the Zenji agitation.
Inaugurating the 17th annual general meeting and eighth general convention of the Federation of Truck Transport Entrepreneurs of Nepal here today, Minister Khatiwada said that the registration of fully destroyed vehicles in the province would be scrapped free of cost along with exemption of tax and renewal fees for the current fiscal year 2082/83. He said that the process of waiving tax has been initiated until the partially damaged vehicles are used.
Stating that a process has been initiated to waive the fine for the service seekers who have been fined for not availing service, Chief Minister Baniya said that the Bagmati Province Transport Office was carrying out some works on service expansion and digitalization and the service delivery would be made more digital, transparent and easy. He pledged to create an environment to avail service from the doorstep through online and digital technology.
He said that the situation of people standing in queues for availing services would end. He said that arrangements are being made to make the transport entrepreneurs more systematic and to provide appropriate compensation to the victims in road accidents.
Stating that preparations were underway to declare ‘no-middlemen zone’ as part of a campaign to make transport offices transparent by prohibiting middlemen, Chief Minister Baniya said that an arrangement would be made to connect the service seekers to the online payment system so that they can get service from their homes.
